Job purpose

The Human Resources Manager will provide support to execute process improvement projects across the organization to sustainably improve morale, safety, people development, company policies communication & HR functions accomplishment, ensuring legal compliance, and implementing the organization’s mission and talent strategy. This role operates in a fast-paced environment and will be the sole HR employee at the facility.

This is a hands-on role that requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously. The candidate must be fluent in Spanish and English as it is essential for communication with the diverse workforce at the facility.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Collaborates with HR Director to develop the leadership on site to achieve the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Communicate the implementation of policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Ensure the administration and communication of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Coordinate staffing and recruiting needs and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Deliver reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, developing HR best practices; reviews and keeps updated policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Applies knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to HR Director and Plant Manager.
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR team.
  • Provide coaching and support to co-workers to achieve the business goals.
  • Process, verify, and maintain documentation relating to personnel activities such as staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, and classifications.
  • Assist in administering employee benefit programs and worker's compensation plans.
  • Manage time and attendance records to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Collaborate with staffing agencies to meet hiring needs and manage temporary staffing solutions.
  • Submit invoicing for staffing agencies and ensure timely payment processing.
  • Maintain the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Prepare employees for assignments by establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
  • Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Training:

  • Associate degree in human resources / Business Administration, Arts, Psychology, or relevant field.
  • Training: Lean principles desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • CHRP, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.

Experience:

  • Results achiever to meet commitments.
  • Works under pressure and well unsupervised
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal and communication skills
  • At least 3 years of human resource management experience required.
  • HR Process development and improvement
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Union / non-union environment experience.
  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Industry: Manufacturing preferred.
  • Personal: leadership skills & capabilities; strong problem-analysis skills, Team player; demonstrable ability to influence across teams; worked successfully in matrix structures; change facilitator; effective communicator; ability to coordinate execution of strategic plans.
  • Language: English and Spanish Required

Working conditions

  • Visit facilities including production floors.
  • This role is office-based, with some flexibility to work from home.
  • Core working hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, flexibility required, hours are subject to change as per business demand or when providing backup coverage for other office personnel.
  • Manual dexterity required to use computer and peripherals.
  • Interacts with employees and management both in the office and on the factory floor.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Work and environment is fast-paced, requiring the ability to remain focused under pressure.
  • There is pronounced pressure from deadlines, project management, accuracy, or similar demands.

Physical requirements

  • Continuously sitting for prolonged periods, as the job is administrative in nature.
  • Requires standing, walking and sometimes, requires walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing/pulling, bending, and crouching.
  • This position requires attention to detail, requiring attention with one or two senses at a time.
